ELDERSON ECHIEJILE: Thank you for inviting me here.

How do you feel taking part in a program like this?

It’s very good and I think programs like should be encouraged in Nigeria. The next stage in life is for people keeping fit and health-wise it is going to be helpful. When I heard about the program, I really wanted to support and be a part of it. I appreciate Complete Sports for putting this together. I would like to encourage Nigerians to cultivate the habit of taking part in workouts like this to keep fit and healthy.

As a star footballer, it’s not surprising that you’re looking very fit. What other things do you do on your own to be in great shape?

A lot of things come into keeping in shape and being fit. What you eat and how you live your life is really important to keep the body healthy. For me as a footballer, it’s all about the job and I had no choice if I want to keep playing at the highest level for as long as possible.

For those who are not sports professionals, it’s not easy but you have to discipline yourself to do what is needed to keep fit.

You were part of the Super Eagles squad to the 2018 World Cup in Russia. Looking back, how will you describe Nigeria’s exit in the first round of the tournament?

Our exit in the first round at the World Cup in Russia was very painful but that is football. As players, wlme wanted to go far in tournaments, we wanted to do more to make Nigerians happy but sometimes, luck is just not on our side. We had a good team with great players and I think they should be encouraged so that they can achieve better things in the future. If we continue to work hard and prepare well, we will surely get it right with our football in totality.

Complete Sports: Nigeria have qualified for this year’s African Cup of Nations after missing the last two editions. How do you feel about it?

It’s really good that we are back for the Nations Cup because if we keep missing out in such tournaments is not good for the players as well as for Nigeria as a football nation. And now that we are back, we have to go there and make a good impact and achieve something really great at the Nations Cup later this year.

I think credit should go to the Nigeria Football Federation, the coaching crew, the players and millions of Nigerians who kept faith in the team by supporting us. With the unity of purpose, we can achieve our great potentials as a country.
