By Sab Osuji:

Serbian coach, Ljupko Petrovic has joined the race for the Super Eagles coaching job after Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, made it clear that they are keen on hiring foreign coach for the senior national team, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Petrovic, 68, won the 1991 UEFA Champions League title with Red Star Belgrade after overcoming Olympique Marseille of France 5-3 on penalties after a full time 0-0 in the final decided on May 29 at Stadio San Nicola in Bari, Italy.

He assisted Mirko Jozic in 1987 when former Yugoslavia (now Serbia) won the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship in Chile.

Fellow Serbian gaffer and current Cranes of Uganda manager, Milutin Sredojevic, is touted as being in top consideration list of Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, Completesportsnigeria.com understands.

Completesportsnigeria.com understands that Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has reportedly been in talks with Sredojevic's representatives concerning the Super Eagles coaching job.

Former Nigeria Dutch managers, Clemens Westerhof and Bonfrere Jo, are also understood to have equally indicated interest in returning to their former duty posts with Nigeria as preparation for the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers get underway soon.

Geoffrey Aghoji, Nigeria representative of Petrovi confirms to Completesportsnigeria.com that the Serbian  is interested in leading the Super Eagles should the job be put on the table for him.

"Petrovic worked in Rwanda three years ago before moving to Bulgaria where he took up coaching appointment with Litex Lovech," Aghoji said.

"He has the African experience having won the Rwandan League with APR FC in 2013 before heading back home, won the UEFA Champions League and was part of the coaching crew that won the FIFA U-20 World Youth Championship in Chile in 1987.

"I don't think there could be a better qualified coach for the job," the Petrovic representative explains.
