2017 Women’s Afrobasket: D’Tigress Coach Plots Tougher Game Plan Vs Q-Final Opponents CIV

D’Tigress of Nigeria coach, Sam Vincent, has described his team’s last Group B game against Senegal on Wednesday at the ongoing 2017 FIBA Africa Women’s Championship in Bamako, Mali as his toughest, assuring  he will come up with a different game plan against Cote D’Ivoire in their quarter-final clash on Friday, reports.

The Nigerians bagged their 5th game unbeaten run in the group stage with a narrow 58-54 points victory to maintain ten points in the preliminary round.

“We had a tough game against Senegal, highly technical side but we are glad we won to complete our five games unbeaten in the group stage,” Vincent told

“We missed some points which we have to work on and come up with different  plans against Cote D’Ivoire in our next game. We know that we need to double our efforts now and work harder.

Vincent who led Nigeria to win the 2003 and 2005 editions also reckoned that the Ivorians are not a team that can be underrated in the tournament.

‎”No team can be underrated at this stage and that is why we have told the girls to get ready for another tough game.”

Cote D’Ivoire won two games and lost three during the preliminary round to garner 7points that took them to the quarter final-stage.

Meanwhile, both Nigeria and Cote D’Ivoire have met five times in previous tournaments, and D’Tigress have won four times while the French speaking ccountry won one.
