Nigeria’s U17 women’s team the Flamingoes played out a 1-1 draw away to their Ethiopian counterparts in Addis Ababa in the first leg of their qualifiers for the 2018 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup on Sunday.
The 2018 World Cup will be hosted by Uruguay.
Joy Jerry gave Nigeria an 18th minute lead but parity was restored three minutes after the hour mark when Tarikow Debiso scored for the hosts.
The second leg will be played at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, Benin City on Saturday, December 16, with the winners on aggregate advancing to the final round of qualifiers scheduled for February 2018.
Nigeria have featured at the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup finals five times, 2008, 2010, 2012, 2014 and 2016.
