Super Falcons captain, Onome Ebi, has apologised for the team’s disappointing defeat to South Africa in their opening Group B game at the
2018 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Ghana and assures they will do their best to retain the title, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Substitute Chrestina Thembi Kgatlana scored the winning goal for the South Africans five minutes from time.
“We are sorry (for the loss to South Africa). We were down but not out. We’re not leaving here without the trophy,” Ebi told reporters at the team’s Elmina base in Cape Coast, Ghana.
Ebi and her teammates now have to win their next game against the dreaded Shepolopolo of Zambia on Wednesday to boost their hopes of making it to the semi-finals of the biennial competition.
The Zambians thrashed former champions, Equatorial Guinea 5-0 in their opening game on Sunday at the Cape Coast Stadium.
The top three teams in the competition will qualify for the FIFA Women’s World Cup billed to hold in France in 2019.Copyright © 2022 Completesports.com All rights reserved. the super falcons of Nigeria remains the best team in the continent of Africa in women’s football and I strongly believe they’ll bounce back to win their other two matches of the group stage. Our girls never played a single friendly match or In any tournament in 2017 after they won the awcon tournament in Cameroon 2016. In 2018 a new European coach Thomas denerby was employed to take up the team who came up with new methods that majority of our home based players in the team are not accustomed to. I totally agree with onome ebi. They’ll bounce back to do well. They played the South Africans with the experience mentality they have and just that one moment of complacency and space they allowed cost them the goal. I advise that the technical crew work on the physical fitness of our darling girls and strikers should be confident to do what the know how to do best because we parade the best strikers in the tournament.
