Klopp: Liverpool Vs United Is Special, Fergie Is The Greatest

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has described his side’s Sunday Premier League fixture against Manchester United as “special”, while paying tribute to Sir Alex Ferguson, United’s legendary manager.

“I love derbies, they are the salt in the soup,” Klopp said during his pre-match press conference on Friday.

“It’s a special game for me and for the club.

“I enjoyed the atmosphere versus Arsenal but I think we can do better.”

Klopp, ignoring the bitter rivalry between the two clubs, praised the past and present managers of Manchester United.

He said: “Louis van Gaal is one of most successful managers in the world. He has a special idea about football. We are different characters. He (van Gaal) is more experienced.

“Maybe I’m more lively on touchline than him.

“Maybe Sir Alex Ferguson is the greatest ever – the John Lennon of football. I had really good moments with Sir Alex. It was an honour to talk with him.”

Klopp insisted Roberto Firmino is coming good for Liverpool following his summer switch from Hoffenheim.

He said: “Everyone needs time. Sometimes we couldn’t change when we wanted.

“He’s in good moment. He’s not just a big team player.”

The German gave positive injury updates ahead of the clash.
He said: “Jordan Henderson is OK, Jordon Ibe is OK, Mamadou Sakho is OK. Kolo is still in the ice bath.

“No update on Sturridge.”
