Seattle Sounders forward Obafemi Martins is eager to deliver the city of Seattle its first MLS Cup when the season starts away at Kansas City.
Martins who rejoined Sounders for pre-season in last week is banking in the disappointment of last season as an inspiration to drive his team to the title this season.
“My focus right now is to give the supporters and the city what they’ve been waiting for. What they deserve. I want to help them win the MLS Cup,” the Nigerian star told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“Attitude is everything and our squad all want the same thing: trophies. We still have a bad taste in our mouth from 2015. We are using the last’s season disappointment as added motivation for 2016.”
The 31-year-old scored 15 goals last term.
Martins who once starred for Newcastle United, Wolfsburg and Levante also tipped the Home Eagles to progress to the next round of the on going African Nations Championship.
He said: “They have a good coach and from what I’ve seen they have a good team good enough to win it.”
