3SC, Rangers Rekindle Rivalry; Enyimba, Sunshine Chase Title

By Adeboye Amosu:
Clubs in the Glo Premier League will intensify their hunt for precious points in Sunday’s match day 29 fixtures, reports completesportsnigeria.com.
Log leaders Enyimba, who suffered their first loss in 11 games against Giwa FC last Sunday, will look to bounce back from the defeat when they host Dolphins at the Enyimba Sports Stadium, Aba.
Kadiri Ikhana’s charges won the reverse fixture earlier in the season and look good enough to do a double over the Port Harcourt Dwellers.
Warri Wolves will hope to hold on to second position when they entertain struggling Kwara United at the Warri City Stadium.
With doubts still persisting over the availability of their top scorer, Gbolahan Salami, coach Paul Aigbogun may be forced to bank on the likes of Micheal Egbeta, Sikiru Alimi and Kufre Ebong to deliver the goods for his side.
Third-placed Sunshine Stars who are without a win in their last three games have a chance to return to winning ways once again when Nasarawa United storm Akure for this weekend’s fixture.
The Owena Waves will welcome back the duo of Ikechukwu Ezenwa and Prince Aggreh who were away on international duty for the game against Kabiru Dogo’s men.
This weekend’s round of fixtures will be headlined by the clash between old rivals, Rangers and 3SC, at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium, Enugu.
Both sides head into the game with contrasting fortunes, with 3SC full of confidence after last Sunday’s 2-1 home win against Sunshine Stars.
Rangers who have struggled in the league in recent weeks were handed a 2-0 defeat by Heartland. Their preparations for the game have been marred by the strike action embarked upon by the players over non-payment of their salaries.
Sharks who recorded their first win in four outings against defending champions Kano Pillars on Monday will look to secure maximum points against FC IfeanyiUbah to ease their relegation woes.
The Nest of Champions in Akwa Ibom will host the encounter between Akwa United and Heartland.
The home side are without a win in their last five league games. Heartland who head into the game on the back of a win against Oriental rivals, Rangers, have not lost to the Promise Keepers in a competitive game.
Giwa FC have another chance to prove their superiority over FC Taraba who they will come up against at the Jolly Nyame Stadium, Jalingo.
In three top flight games, FC Taraba are yet to score against the Jos Elephant and have lost twice including this same fixture last season, although they drew in the reverse fixture earlier in the season.
Champions Kano Pillars who now look out of contention for the title, will keep a date with Abia Warriors, the only side they have managed to beat on the road this term, at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
In Makurdi, Lobi Stars will welcome back their top scorer, Tony Okpotu, for the game against Wikki Tourists.
Okpotu who has scored 10 goals in 13 league games for his side this season missed their last game due to injury.
