Thugs invaded the Agege Stadium pitch and attempted to beat up the officials as Shooting Stars defeated home side MFM FC in Lagos on Sunday.
Also on Sunday, Wikki Tourists moved three points clear at the top of the Nigeria Professional Football League following a comprehensive 3-1 home win against northern rivals, Kano Pillars, at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Bauchi-based side who were tied on 38 points with Rivers United prior to kick-off on Sunday now have 41 points following the win.
Emmanuel Edmund fired Kano Pillars in front in the 35th minute.
Wikki Tourists after a long period of dominance equalised 13 minutes from time through Ibrahim Alhassan.
Abubakar Lawal converted a penalty five minutes before the end of the game to give Wikki the lead for the first time in the tie, while Alhassan netted his second of the game in injury time to hand Abdu Maikaba’s men another important win which extended their unbeaten streak to six games.
Second placed Rivers United lost 2-0 against FC IfeanyiUbah in Nnewi.
FC IfeanyiUbah took the lead on 23 minutes through Wasiu Jimoh following a beautiful pass by Maduabuchi Okereke.
The hosts put the game beyond Rivers United when Ismaila Gata netted a second five minutes after the break.
At the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja, Niger Tornadoes were held to a 1-1 draw by Rangers.
The home side went into the lead three minutes before the break with Mustapha Musa scrambling the ball after a long throw-in by one of his team mates.
Osas Okoro scored in the 93rd minute to ensure the Flying Antelopes return to Enugu with a share of the spoils.
Shooting Stars continued their resurgence under Gbenga Ogunbote, securing a slim 1-0 away win against MFM FC at the Agege Stadium.
It was the first time the Olukoya Boys will tasting defeat at home this season.
Ebitimi Agogo scored the decisive goal eight minutes from time.
Play was delayed afterwards as thugs suspected to be supporters of the home team invaded the pitch.
In Umuahia, Abia Warriors defeated Heartland 1-0 with Uche Ihuarulam scoring the winner in the 28th minute.
Akwa United also beat El-Kanemi Warriors 2-0 in at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo.
Aniekan Ekpe converted a penalty in the 10th minute to hand his side the lead, while Micheal Ikpe doubled his side’s advantage on the half hour mark.
The game between Warri Wolves and Plateau United will be played on Monday morning after the playing surface at the Warri City Stadium was rendered unplayable following a heavy downpour at the venue.
