Super Eagles defender, Leon Balogun, was in action for Mainz 05 on Tuesday as they beat seventh-tier side RWO Alzey 5-0 in their first pre-season game ahead of the new Bundesliga season.
Balogun came on at the start of the second half of the match at the Wartbergstadion, home ground of Alzey.
Mainz took the lead through Pablo de Blasis, who converted a 19th minute penalty after he was fouled inside the 18-yard box.
Gaetan Bussmann made it 2-0 for Mainz after he struck on 52 minutes.
Two minutes later Daniel Bohl got on the score sheet to make it 3-0.
In the 59th minute, Mainz took a 4-0 lead following a goal from Aaron Seydel.
And in the 77th minute, de Blasis completed the rout, grabbing his brace and Mainz’s fifth goal.
