5 Key Factors To Expect From Tanzania Vs Nigeria

Completesportsnigeria.com's IZUCHKWU OKOSI has been digging deep for facts and figures synonymous with Saturday's Taifa Stars/Super Eagles clash in Dar es Salaam. Below are his interesting findings: factors that might influence the outcome of the highly anticipated match. Excerpts…

1. History Of Low Scoreline

The six previous meetings between Tanzania and Nigeria, at senior level, have not produced any big scoreline, and Saturday's game will possibly not be different. The 3-1 win of Nigeria's Green Eagles over Tanzanians remains the game with the highest scoreline. The winner on Saturday will likely edge this one by a goal or two.

Nigeria's Super Eagles are not particularly good travellers in the continent and that could be a factor on Saturday.

2.  The Super Eagles Facing Defensive Lapses

Super Eagles captain and first choice goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama has been omitted from this game because of his bereavement, following the death of his mother.

Enyeama posted an emotional message on his Instagram page where he revealed  his inability to play in the game. That will give the likes of Carl Ikeme a chance to play.

But the absence of Enyeama could prove challenging for Nigeria backline as Wolverhampton's Carl Ikeme who is likely to make his international debut for Nigeria has never played with the rest of the defenders before now.

Understanding is lacking in this situation between Ikeme and the men he will work with. Consequently, expect few defensive lapses which hopefully will not prove to be costly for Sunday Oliseh and his team.

3. Home Crowd: The 12th Man For Taifa Stars

Nigeria  will only play 11 men against their hosts but expect the fans at the terraces to sing loudly in support of their national team.

The Super Eagles players will do well to face the business and not pay too much attention to the antics of the Tanzanian fans.

The fans mischief should not get to the Super Eagles players if they hope to get something out of the game.

4. Cloudy Weather On Match Day

The weather man forecasts that Dar es Salaam will be cloudy on Saturday, to be mixed with some sunshine. The game starts at 2.30pm Nigerian time. Tanzania is two hours ahead of Nigeria. The weather will be 31dC and 87F in the day. With the Winds SE at 10 to 15mph, and at night, will be clear at 71dC .

5. Desperation To Impress/Score By The Super Eagles

The Super Eagles players will be too eager to impress new coach Sunday Oliseh in the game against Tanzania.

The attackers, especially, should be told not to go for personal glory if their teammates stand a better chance of scoring. Emmanuel Emenike has already vowed to score in this game.

The Al Ain stiker needs to focus more on helping NIberia win this game rather than he aiming to be the only one to score. Same applies for the other strikers in the team.
