Joshua Knocks Out Molina, To Face Klitschko In April

British boxer with Nigerian heritage Anthony Oluwafemi Joshua, 27, has retained his International Boxing Federation (IBF) heavyweight title after knocking out American challenger Eric Molina in round three in the early hours of Sunday at the Manchester Arena.


Joshua landed a heavy left hook to send Molina crashing on to the canvass.

It was Joshua’s second title defence since becoming the IBF heavyweight champion of the world.

Also, it is Joshua’s 18th win from 18 fights, all coming via knockouts.

Joshua To Defend IBF Title Against Klitschko April 29

Joshua will take on former heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko, 40, in a high-profile title defence, it was announced on Sunday morning.

The fight which is billed for Wembley Stadium will come up on April 29, 2017.

The fight was confirmed by promoter Eddie Hearn immediately after Joshua knocked out American challenger Eric Molina in the third round of their heavyweight title clash at the Manchester Arena in the early hours of Sunday.

“I’d like now to bring Wladimir Klitschko to the ring, and I’m officially announcing the fight against Anthony Joshua at Wembley Stadium on 29 April,” Hearn announced.

Also confirming the date for the fight was Klitschko.

“Do you want to see a big fight? Do you want to see two Olympic champions in there? You got it,” said Klitscho who lost his titles to Tyson Fury in 2015.

Meanwhile, preceding Joshua versus Molina fight was the World Boxing Council (WBC) heavyweight title eliminator between Dillian Whyte and Dereck Chisora.

After a hard-fought contest, Whyte emerged victorious following a split decision.

The judges scored the fight 115-114, 115-113 and 115-114 in favour of Whyte.

The win brings Whyte’s tally to 20 from 21 fights while Chisora has now lost seven of his professional fights.
