Wenger: Everton Played Real Cup Game Against Arsenal

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has admitted he was disappointed to see his side lose 2-1 to Everton at Goodison Park on Tuesday. .

The defeat was Arsenal's second of the season after an unbeaten run of 14 games in the English Premier League.

The result could also see league leaders Chelsea go six points clear at the top with victory at Sunderland on Wedn.esday..

Wenger whose side host Manchester City in Sunday's clash told the BBC after the game that his players were saddened by the loss.

"I don't think with five to go we deserved to lose the game, but we were caught on two headers. I think especially on the first one we were guilty, the second one was from a corner," Wenger told the BBC.

"We controlled Romelu Lukaku well but two defenders scored. Maybe we made it easy for them when they became more physical. They played a real cup game tonight.

"They defended well even when we controlled the game. We created chances but not too many were clear-cut. We battled hard. We put everything in and the players are very disappointed."

Ashley Williams' 86th minute winner ensured Ronald Koeman's side recorded their sixth win of the season.

Everton are now seventh on the log with 23 points from 16 games; 11 points adrift Arsenal.
