Shooting Stars coach Fatai Amoo has applauded his players for getting the job done in Sunday’s 2-1 win over Rivers United at the Lekan Salami stadium in a Nigerian Professional Football League game in Ibadan, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
It was 3SC’s second win in their last four meetings with Rivers United.
A late goal from Jide Apena handed the Oluyole Warriors their second win of the campaign after Lukman Mohammed’s close range strike in the 29th minute cancelled out Sunday Feleye’s 17th minute opener for the hosts.
The defeat ended Rivers United’ s unbeaten run of seven games in the NPFL.
“I’m delighted at the win because it gave our supporters and fans so much excitement because even when we were not doing well they stood by us,” Amoo said in his post-match interview.
“The boys rose to the occasion because of the quality side they were facing in Rivers United. Also the new players who made the starting line-up today proved that they have what it takes to get the club off the position they are in now.
“We signed all these young boys to play and they have delivered today.”
Amoo who introduced four new player to his starting line-up against Rivers United also hinted that there will be new faces also in the squad for their next game away.
“We had some new players today and three of the new boys in the squad are in line for their debut away to Wikki in our next game,” the former NigeriaU-23s coach added.
Shooting Stars are now placed 12th in the NPFL table with seven points from six games.
They will be hoping to record their first away win of the season when they face Wikki Tourists FC on match day seven in Bauchi.
