Nigeria forward Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute for Manchester City as they defeated Sunderland 2-0 in a Premier League clash at the Stadium Of Light on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The result means City are unbeaten in their last nine games in all competitions.
Goals from Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane handed the Citizens their 17th win of the season and moved Pep Guardiola’s side to third in the log with 55 points and a game in hand.
The hosts created the first chance of the game when their top scorer Jermaine Defoe struck the post with a bouncing effort from outside the box that had Willy Caballero beaten.
Fabio Borini also headed wide from the rebound, as David Moyes’ side failed to make their attempt on goal count.
Aguero broke the deadlock with three minutes left to play in the first half when his right footed shot from the right side of the six- yard box beat Jordan Pickford in goal for Sunderland.
The goal was Aguero’s fifth in his last three games for help Manchester City.
City made it 2-0 on the hour mark when Sané fired in David Silva’s through ball from the left side of the box to the bottom right corner.
Iheanacho has featured 21 times for City and has scored seven goals this season.
