Galadima: Pinnick Will Protect Nigeria’s Interests At CAF Elections

By James Agberebi:

Former Nigeria Football Association Chairman, Alhaji Ibrahim Galadima, says he hopes Nigeria will gain a lot in the forthcoming Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) elections which will be held on Thursday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.

Incumbent President of the Nigeria Football Federation Amaju Pinnick will be one of the candidates vying for a position at the elections.

Pinnick will slug it out with Republic of Benin’s Anjorin Moucharafou in West B Zone for a shot at a seat on the CAF Executive Committee.

Also, 70-year-old CAF president Issa Hayatou, going for an eighth four-year term since taking office in 1988, will be up against Madagascar’s Ahmad Ahmad for the top job.

“The truth is that Nigerian government have spoken and they have given Amaju Pinnick the backing to go and do what is best for Nigeria,” Galadima told Completesportsnigeria.com on Tuesday, two days to the elections.

“So my prayer is for Nigeria to benefit from the election.”

On whether he thinks Ahmad will take over from Hayatou as CAF President, Galadima said: “I wouldn’t know if we are going to see a new president in CAF.

“I don’t know the kind of schemes or politics each candidate has played. So whether Issa Hayatou will remain for another four years or if Ahmad will succeed him, honestly I don’t know.”
