Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger believes his team can still qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League following their 2-0 home win against Premier League top four rivals Manchester United in the Premier League on Sunday.
It was Arsenal’s first league win under Wenger against a team managed by Jose Mourinho.
The win puts Arsenal just six points off fourth-placed Manchester City.
“We still have a mathematical chance [of making the top four],” Wenger said in his post-match press conference.
“We need some help but the best help we can get is from our own focus and to win our games.
“We had to look at ourselves first as I said before the game. I think it was a patience-built win and you could see in the first half that we were a bit nervous and a bit slow in the second half.
“We had a good spell and took advantage of it with two goals in two minutes and that was the win today.”
On his team’s defensive solidity against United, Wenger said: “Three at the back gives us a bit more defensive stability because we had a spell where we conceded too many goals.
“All is not perfect but I think we are a bit more defensively focused at the moment than we were a few weeks ago and it helps us a little bit.”Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
