Former Super Eagles striker Ikechukwu Uche scored two goals for Gimnastic in their 3-1 home win against Girona in the Spanish second division LaLiga 1/2/3 on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Uche has now scored seven goals in 22 league appearances for Gimnastic this season.
Pablo Maffeo gave Girona the lead in the first minute but Manu Barreiro equalised for Gimnastic in the 50th minute.
Uche made it 2-1 in the 60th minute before adding another goal to make it 3-1 eight minutes later.
The win takes Gimnastic to 18th on 46 points in the 22-team league and two points above the relegation zone with two games left in the season.
Also on Sunday, Nigerian duo Godfrey Oboabona and Bright Edomwonyi were in action for relegation threatened Rizespor who beat Osmanlispor 2-1 away from home in the Turkish top flight.
Oboabona and Edomwonyi played 90 minutes, while their Nigerian teammate Nosa Igiebor was an unused substitute.
Rizespor are currently in the relegation zone in 16th position on 33 points in the 18-team league table.
They must beat Kenneth Omeruo’s Alanyaspor at home on Saturday and hope Bursaspor drop points away to Trabzonspor in order to escape relegation.
In the Danish championship title play-off, Nigerian forwards Paul Onuachu and Rilwan Hassan featured for Midtjylland who lost 3-0 at home to Lyngby.
Onuachu and Hassan played 90 minutes for Midtjylland in the defeat.
Midtjylland currently occupy the fourth spot in the championship title play-off on 54 points.
Copenhagen are top in the six-team play-off on 84 points, Brondby are second on 62 points and Lyngby third on 58 points.
