Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic has stated that Nigerian forward Sone Aluko with be in action against Sheffield Wednesday in the English Championship on Saturday amid talk of a move away from the club.
Aluko has been reported to be on the verge of leaving Fulham following interest from other Championship clubs, most notably Reading.
But Jokanovic said Aluko is set for the weekend game against Wednesday.
“Aluko has started the season very well and will be part of the team tomorrow,” Jokanovic said in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
Jokanovic said new signings Sheyi Ojo and Rui Fonte who joined from Liverpool (loan) and Braga respectively, have big roles to play in Fulham’s quest for promotion to the Premier League at the end of the season.
“Fonte and Ojo have great capacity to learn and will be important players for us this season,” he added.
Fulham have drawn their first three games since the start of the new Championship season, and are currently 16th in the 24-team league table.
And Jokanovic says Fulham are eager to secure their first win of the season before their Craven Cottage fans.
He said: “We’re looking for our first three points. We’ll push hard to ensure it happens at home in front of our fans.
“Sheffield Wednesday are one of the most experienced teams in the league. They compete very well.”
