AAG: Nigerian Boxers, Volleyballers Face Accreditation Hassles

Team Nigeria volleyball squad may come short of a complete starting team when the preliminary round games of the 11th All Africa Games tagged Congo Brazzaville 2015 get underway Wednesday in Brazzaville, completesportsnigeria.com reports.

This follows late discoveries by Nigerian officials that some of the athletes’ names were missing from the list of those already accredited for the games.

For the boxers who are expected to undergo the weigh-in exercises on Wednesday, completesportsnigeria.com understands that about three of them are without accreditation.

Completesportsnigeria.com reports that with Team Nigeria first batch who arrived in Congo on Monday in a chartered flight are struggling to get the athletes properly accredited, a Nigerian who gave his name simply as Pastor Fred has been doing the leg work for the Nigerian team.

Paster Fred was seen jostling between the COJA Secretariat and Team Nigeria camp at the Games Village trying to sort things out.

“I’m not a Team Nigeria official, neither am I on the Nigerian embassy staff. But because of the situation on the ground, I had to help out to ensure that things go well for our country’s athletes at the games,” Pastor Fred told completesportsnigeria.com at COJA Secretariat Tuesday night.

Completesportsnigeria.com understands that Nigerian Ambassador to Congo Brazzaville, Ambassador Princess Onipade, was amongst other ambassadors recently recalled by the Nigerian government.
