AAG: Siasia Saddened By Egypt’s Withdrawal

By James Agberebi:

Samson Siasia has expressed regrets following the withdrawal of the Junior Pharoahs of Egypt from the football event of the All Africa Games, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

On Wednesday, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), announced on its official website that both Egypt’s men and women football teams have pulled out of the Games.

Reacting to the development, U-23 Eagles coach, Siasia, told Brila FM that playing against Egypt would have served as a very good tune-up game for his team ahead of the African U-23 Cup of Nations in Senegal.

“I don’t know why they pulled out, but all the same that’s one team down and two to go. But I feel playing against Egypt would have been a very good game for us towards the Olympic qualifier in Senegal,” Siasia told Brila FM.

He however stated that Nigeria will now have to focus on Ghana and Senegal, with the hope of doing well at the Games.

“We will now have to concentrate on Ghana and Senegal, and hopefully, we will do well against them and go all the way.”

Speaking further, Siasia said that the foreign-based players expected to be part of the team will join them in Congo.

“We are expecting the likes of Aminu Umar and Shehu Abdullahi who will join us in Congo,” he said.
