AAG: Team Nigeria Suffer Flight Delay

By Sab Osuji In Brazzaville:

Team Nigeria athletes and officials to the 2015 All Africa Games encountered several hours of delay at the Maya Maya International Airport, Brazzaville on Sunday.

The Nigerian contingent were supposed to depart Congo Brazzaville at 1.30pm Sunday in a chartered flight but were yet to fly out as at the time of filing this report at 7.50pm.

It was gathered that the delay was sequel to disagreement between the airline and the authorities of the airport who it was alleged demanded for extra payment aside from what was originally agreed upon.

Another version indicates that some luggage was suspected to contain alleged ilicit content which forced all the hitherto packed bags to be offloaded and searched.

“But after the searching, we were not told anything except that they re-loaded the luggage,” one of the passengers informed completesportsnigeria.com.

“For the past three hours after the bags were repacked, we have been sitting inside the aircraft without any official communication.

“You can’t believe it that the airline has even served us food which ordinarily would have been served while on board.

“Even after that, we already feeling hungry again. We don’t know if or when we will fly out back home.

“This flight was supposed to leave by 1.30pm but calculate how many hours that we have been delayed.”

Neither the MAS Airline nor Team Nigeria officials could be reached for comments on the issue at the time of filing this report.
