By Johnny Edward: Scottish Premiership side Aberdeen are close to completing the signing of Nigerian midfielder Chidiebere Nwakali on loan for the rest of the season, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Nwakali arrival is subject to the issue of a work permit and he will become Aberdeen’s second signing of the January transfer window after the return of Niall McGinn.
The 21-year-old Nwakali is a Manchester City player who has had loan spells at FC Sogndal and IK Start in Norway. He has linked up with Aberdeen on their winter-break to Dubai, according to Scottish newspaper the Daily Record.
Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes was also delighted to have the former Nigerian U17 and U20 player.
“Manchester City have been very keen for Chidi to get some competitive game time and it’s a deal we’ve been working on for a couple of months now, so I am delighted to welcome Chidi to the club,” Mclnnes told Daily Record.
“I’m sure he will be a positive addition to our squad.”
