Newly promoted side Abia Warriors have closed the gap on leaders and defending champions Kano Pillars, thanks to their 2-0 win against El-Kanemi Warriors in a week 22 Globacom Premier League.
Playing in front of their home fans in Umuahia, Abia Warriors made their intentions of grabbing all three points known very early in the match when Michael Okoro netted in the 5th minute.
Still in the first half, Chisom Chikatara made it 2-0 for Abia Warriors in the 30th minute to secure all the maximum points which now sees them place second with just a point behind Kano Pillars.
In the Oriental derby decided at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, both Rangers and Enyimba played a 1-1 draw.
Ifeanyi Ede put the Coal City team 1-0 ahead as early as the 5th minute. But in the second half, Ugwu Uwadiegwu scored for Enyimba in the 26th minute to make sure they both shared the spoils.
In Akure, Sunshine Stars made full use of home advantage as they thrashed Kano Pillars 3-0. Musa Newman grabbed a brace before Prince Aggreh made it 3-0 to give the Akure side a resounding victory.
