Adepoju Backs Eaglets To Beat Mali And Retain U-17 W/Cup Title

By Bamidele Boluwaji:

Former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju has praised Nigeria's Golden Eaglets for booking a place in the final of the 2015 FIFA U-17 World Cup in Chile after beating Mexico 4-2 in their semi-final match played on Friday morning, Completesportsnigeria.com can report.

The Golden Eaglets are making their seventh appearance in the final of the tournament on Sunday when they play Mali.

"This is a commendable victory and from what I have seen in these players, I have no doubt about their ability to win the trophy though it could be a bit difficult playing against our African brothers. However, I am sure that our boys have what it takes to win the final,"  Adepoju tells

"I must also praise Coach Emmanuel Amuneke and his coaching crew for the good job they have done in this tournament, this has shown that with proper focus, Nigeria can do better than what we are presently doing in football. These boys are talented and you can see that with the way they played the Mexicans. It was a tough match having conceded the first goal, but the players raised their game to ensure the country is not disgraced, I say kudos to them.

Meanwhile, Nigeria will play Mali in the final of the developmental tournament on Sunday.

"I can only wish them well and advise them not to give up, the Mexico match is over and they should be fully focused ahead of the Mali game," Adepoju concludes.
