–Says he was disappointed with the team’s performance
Former Super Eagles midfielder Mutiu Adepoju believes that lack of coordination denied the senior national team a win against Iran in their opening game of the 2014 FIFA World Cup which was decided yesterday in Brazil.
Speaking shortly after the goalless draw, the ex-international said he was disappointed with the performance of the Super Eagles in the match, saying Keshi needs to make a lot of corrections in the team if they must beat Bosnia in their second game.
“Eagles did not do well in the match despite the expectations from the team and I feel very disappointed in the team”, begins the ex-Eagles player.
Adepoju who was part of the country’s team to the 2002 FIFA World Cup in Korea/Japan said both the attack and the midfield departments did not show any coordination in the match.
“I expected to see both the midfield and the attack to be coordinated but that did not happen and that is why they could not score in the match, I just hope that the coaches will learn from that and make necessary corrections before their next game.
Meanwhile, the Kwara Football Academy top official believes Iran capitalized on the lapses of the Super Eagles to steal the show.
“Since Iran discovered that our boys could not score, they had to come out and mount pressure on the team therefore stealing the show which was very bad for the Eagles”, Adepoju added Nigeria will play Bosnia in their next game while Argentina plays Iran in the Group F.
