Adepoju Tips Eagles To Beat “Good Team” Algeria

By James Agberebi:

Former Nigeria midfielder Mutiu Adepoju has expressed confidence the Super Eagles have enough qualities to beat Algeria in Saturday's 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier in Uyo.

The Eagles go into the clash two points ahead of Algeria in African qualifying Group B following their 2-1 away win against Zambia in Ndola on matchday 1.

Adepoju  who was in the Eagles team that beat Algeria 4-1 enroute to qualifying for USA 1994 World Cup, however predicts a very difficult encounter.

"Algeria are one of the best teams currently in Africa. We can see it in their performances and also in their individual players," Adepoju told Completesportsnigeria.com.

"But I believe with the quality of players in our team we are going to win the game.

"It's going to be interesting, exciting and tough. But like I said, we have the players who are capable of delivering."

The former Real Sociedad and Racing Santander midfielder urged the Eagles to play without pressure.

"They (Eagles players) are professionals. They just have to try and overcome whatever form of pressure they may face on that day," Adepoju added.

"I will advise them to just focus while on the pitch and put aside any form of distraction."
