Adidas: We’ve Not Terminated NFF Contract

Sportwear manufacturer, Adidas says its “contract remains unchanged” with the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

But the German multinational corporation explained that it is “monitoring the situation very closely” as there are ongoing discussions with the football federation in the West African country.

“We are monitoring the situation very closely and are in ongoing discussions with the Nigeria Football Federation. Our contract remains unchanged at this time,” Adidas Group Corporate Communication Manager, Lars Mangels, explained to supersport.com on Monday.

NFF Assistant Director (Communications) Ademola Olajire said there have been no correspondence to the effect that the football federation’s contract with Adidas has been “cancelled, suspended or terminated.”

But he could not immediately confirm if there were ongoing discussions with the sportswear company.

“There has been no letter to that effect. The existing contract still remains in place and they are a reputable organisation that will do things in the proper way. So I don’t know of the football federation’s contract (with Adidas) being cancelled, suspended or terminated,” Olajire said in reaction to reports that Adidas had cancelled its contract with the NFF following Fifa threat to suspend the country from international football citing government interference.
