The agent of Ogenyi Onazi, Ayo Makinwa has played down the reported interest of Greek side Panathinaikos in his client because it exists only in the media as both the player's club, SS Lazio, and his representatives have not been contacted officially, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
The 23-year-old has been target for several European teams, with the Greek side thought to be weighing up £7m bids.
It can be recalled that the head coach of Panathinaikos, Andrea Stramaccioni, reportedly told Italian tabloid, Tuttomercato in an interview, that the Nigeria international was one of the four players that make up their options for a possible signing. The other three are; Segundo Víctor Ibarbo Guerrero (Cagliari), Panagiotis Kone (Udinese), and Keita Balde Diao (Lazio).
However, Makinwa who also oversees the football affairs of Locomotiv Moscow's Ezekiel Henty, Blessing Eleke, told Completesportsnigeria.com that there's no official Panathinaikos interest for Onazi.
"The story is incorrect, we are not in contact with them (Panathinaikos)," Makinwa, a one-time fringe Nigeria forward told Completesportsnigeria.com exclusively.
In January, Onazi saw his loan move to German side, Werder Bremen hit the rocks.
He played 22 games in all competitions for SS Lazio last season and is under contract with the club till 2018.
