Tomane pulled one back for Tondela three minutes later but Setubal held on for their first away win of the season.

It was also a fourth straight start and full game for Agu who’s now an integral part of coach Vidigal’s team who are now placed seventh on the Primeira Liga.

“It was a difficult game for us but we are happy to take all three points. Sometimes you play well and end up losing so I guess we’ll rather take this performance and the three points.

Hopefully, it helps us to get better and stronger in subsequent games,” Agu told Completesportsnigeria.com.

After joining on-loan from parent club FC Porto on transfer deadline day, the Super Eagles player took time to settle down at Setubal but he’s now one of the first names on the roster with his assured performances from the holding midfield position where he plays in front of the centre-backs.

Although on one yellow card so far, Setubal have not lost any of the three games in which Agu started for them.

Setubal are away again to second-placed Sporting Braga on November 4 at the Estadio Municipal de Braga.

Agu meanwhile, has been recalled back to the Super Eagles for next month’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against South Africa.

The 25 years old midfielder was dropped from the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

  • Well done Mikel. Your well-placed decision to change clubs and hard work for your current team have conspired to earn you a recall to the national team.
If you get the chance to play, please make the best of it. If Ighalo can win critics over, so can you. Good luck!

Yeso, critiques are easily converted by consistent top performances. Musa converted his critiques, Success did same, Ighalo did same, Iwobi did same in Arsenal, Uzoho is on the verge of doing same. So is your turn my brother.

Remember the competition in SE now is fierce, so you must grab every opportunity with both hands. Wish you the best.

    • Yep, play in a club that fits. Osimhen found his club after 3 years, Agu has found his. Omeruo has found his.
      Chukwueze has found his.
Remains for K Nwakali, T Awoniyi and Awaziem to find a club that suit them and they will also start to show their promise.
