By Adeboye Amosu:
Enyimba head coach Paul Aigbogun will make key changes in his side’s starting line-up in Sunday’s CAF Champions League clash against Zamalek, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Peoples Elephant have struggled for form in recent weeks with many of the players failing to live up to expectations.
Aigbogun, Completesportsnigeria.com scooped from a reliable source at the club, will overhaul his starting eleven for the game.
“The head coach is not happy with the performance of some of the players in some of our recent games and is ready to wield the big stick by giving others who have done well in training the opportunity to play against Zamalek,” the source told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“The good thing is that we have a lot of quality players in the team which will be vital for our progress in this competition.
“He is most importantly thinking about rejigging the attack as the team have not scored enough goals lately.
“It’s important for us to start on a winning note taking into cognisance the fact that Sundowns beat Setif on the road in the first group game.”
Enyimba will be out to start their campaign in the Group stages of the CAF Champions League on a positive note when they confront Zamalek in Port Harcourt on Sunday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
With South African side Mamelodi Sundowns securing a shocking 2-0 away win at Entente Setif on Saturday night, Paul Aigbogun’s men will be desperate to pick maximum points in this game to also assert their authority in the group.
It will be first time the Aba giants will be facing the Egyptian champions in the competition.
This is however the ninth time they will be facing an Egyptian side in the competition. Their record stands at three wins, one draw and four defeats.
The Peoples Elephants who have won the competition twice in the past head into the game in poor form having failed to win a game in their last four outings in the Nigeria Professional Football League.
But skipper of the side, Chinedu Udoji, who has declared himself fit for the game following a eye injury he sustained during his side’s last league game against Shooting Stars insisted the poor run will not affect them on Sunday.
“It’s going to be a different Enyimba side on Sunday and we are going to fight hard to pick a win in the game,” the former FC Abuja defender told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“People have talked about how we have failed to record a win in our last four games, but we are nothing really thinking about that.
“We are fully concentrated on this game and we will ensure we don’t disappoint our fans.”
Zamalek who have won their last nine games in the Egyptian league will miss the services of four of their regular players.
Captain of the White Knights, Mahmoud Shikabala, and playmaker Ayman Hefny are ruled out of the game due to injury, while Mahmoud Abdul Razek is also not fit for the game. The fourth player, Mohamed Koffi is suspended for the game.
