Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina was in action for Chelsea who kicked off their pre-season campaign on a winning note with 1-0 win over Australian side, Perth Glory, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Pedro Rodriguez stabbed home from six yards Callum Hudson-Odoi’s cross in the fifth minute to hand Maurizio Sarri his first win in charge of the Blues.
Sarri handed starting role to three teenage Blues stars, Hudson-Odoi, Polish keeper Marcin Bulka, and 17-year-old Wales defender Ethan Ampadu. He also paraded his new signing Jorginho for the first half against the Australian A-League team.
Ross Barkley hit the cross bar in the 38th minute while Cesc Fabregas and Marcos Alonso also came close to scoring in the encounter.
After the break Sarri made three changes bringing on Tiemoue Bakayoko for Jorginho, Mario Pasalic for Hudson-Odoi and Emerson Palmeri for Marcos Alonso.
Nigerian born striker, Tammy Abraham also replaced Alvaro Morata in the 60th minute while Aina came on for Rodriguez in the 73rd minute of the game.
Aina played on a season loan at English Championship side, Hull City last season while Abraham was loaned out to Swansea in the English Premier League same season.
Chelsea’s next game is against Inter Milan in Nice, France in the International Champions Cup on Saturday before taking on Arsenal in Dublin, and also play Scotland on August 1 in the same tournament.
After meeting Manchester City in the Community Shield at Wembley on 5 August, Chelsea will host Lyon in another International Champions Cup at Stamford Bridge on 7 August before starting their Premier League campaign at Huddersfield on 11 August.
