Ola Aina will undergo further tests at his Italian club, Torino after he suffered an injury in training with the Super Eagles of Nigeria while on international duty.
Aina picked up a slight contusion during Super Eagles’ last training session ahead of the game against Bafana Bafana at the FNB Stadium, Johannesburg.
The injury ultimately ruled him out of the international friendly against Uganda on Tuesday as well.
According to Italian online website Toro.it, an appropriate test will be carried out later today (Wednesday) when he (Aina) visits the medical staff, Torino.
“The risk is obviously that the injury is more serious than expected and that it can serve a long stop before complete recovery,” the website reports.
Meanwhile, Torino are keen on activating the €10m purchase option inserted in the loan agreement according to a report in Italian online news outlet, tuttosport.com.
Aina penned a new three-year deal with Chelsea prior to completing the loan move to Torino last summer.
The 22-year-old has featured in 10 of Torino’s 12 league games this season, making seven starts and three substitute appearance.
Torino will face Cagliari next Serie A game on Monday. The Turin outfit are currently 10th in the Serie A table with 17 points from 12 games.
