Ajayi In Action As Al Ahly Win Egyptian Super Cup

By Adeboye Amosu: Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi was on from the start as Al Ahly won their 10th Egyptian Super Cup title following a hard fought 1-0 win against Al Masry at the Hazza Bin Zayed Stadium on Friday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com (CSN).

Ajayi was however substituted in the 97th minute by Islam Morhab.

Both sides battled to a 0-0 draw in regulation time with Walid Azarou scoring the winning goal in the 101st minute.

Al Ahly’s Ahmed Fathi had the first real chance of the game in the 10th minute but his left-footed shot went wide.

Five minutes later, Azarou sent in a low cross into the box but the ball was cleared out of danger by the Al Masry defence.

Al Ahly upped the pressure afterwards and nearly took the lead a minute after the half hour mark.

Abdallah El Said dribbled past a number Al Masry players before sending Amr El-Sulya through on goal but his weak effort was saved by Ahmed Masoud.

Al Ahly coach Hossam El- Badry make his first substitution of the game seven minutes from time with Mo’men Zakria replacing Walid Soliman.

The game went into extra time after both teams failed to find the back of the net after 90 minutes.

Al Ahly scored in the 101 minute through Azarou. Al Masry’s Goalkeepr Massod tried to dribble past Azarou but the Morrocan striker got the ball and tapped into an empty net.

Substitute Zakria missed a sitter to double Al Ahly’s lead in the 108 minute.

Zakria however had a ruled out for offside a minute before time.
