Ajiboye: ‘Shirt War’ On In CHAN Eagles’ Camp, Coaches Will Face Selection Headache

By Adeboye Amosu: Home-based Super Eagles goalkeeper, Dele Ajiboye, says he is enjoying the competition for places in the team ahead of the 2018 African Nations Championship in Morocco , reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

The Plateau United goalie is among the 30 players currently battling for inclusion in the final 23-man squad for the competition meant for players plying their trade in their countries’ domestic leagues.

Suraj Ayeleso’s late invitation to the team has increased the number of goalkeepers in camp to four with handler of the side, Salisu Yusuf expected to prune down the number to three before the finals.

But Ajiboye is unfazed by the challenge which he believes is good for the team.

“The national team is not a place where you come and play, it is for serious minded players who want to make their country proud. ”

I hope he’s taller than Ezenwa, who is too short for a goalkeeper and therefore has problems plucking aerial crosses off the heads of attackers. Besides, I’ve noticed that Ezenwa cannot kick the ball beyond the halfway line. These are serious deficiencies in a goalkeeper that the Super Eagles handlers should be aware of.
