Bournemouth’s Nathan Ake believes their hard work on the training ground came to fruition in Monday’s 2-1 win over Crystal Palace.

The Cherries took the lead through an early David Brooks strike, only to be pegged back by Patrick van Aanholt’s equaliser.

However, Eddie Howe’s men continued to kick on and grabbed a winner when Junior Stanislas converted a penalty following Mamadou Sakho’s needless foul on Jefferson Lerma.

Monday’s result takes Bournemouth up to seventh in the table, with four wins from their seven outings.

Ake says Howe and his staff have been pushing the players hard on the training ground and the Dutchman, who was awarded the man of the match prize, believes the fitness work they have done was vital to seeing them home on Monday.

“I think everyone is very happy,” he said. “It was a tough match, we knew it was going to be.

“The first half we started really well, the first 25 minutes or so. Twenty minutes into the second half we got our control back.

“We work very hard in training so the whole team is very fit, we run for 90 minutes. We are never beaten.”
