Norwegian club, IK Start, have announced the signing of Nigerian forward, Adeleke Akinyemi on a three year-deal from Latvian outfit, Ventpils, an imminent transfer that Completesportsnigeria.com exclusively scooped on Wednesday.
CSN exclusively reported on Wednesday that the young striker will put pen to paper at the club today after arriving from Latvia.
Akinyemi who will wear Jersey number 77 at the club trained with his new teammates for the first time on Thursday morning.
“This is a player we have been following for a long time, and for which we have been working for a long time. There are several people who have helped to make this happen, and we have probably had some luck, ” IK Start sporting director, Tor-Kristian Karlsen told the club’s official website.
“Adeleke is a powerful, breakthrough and dynamic player, who likes to run on all the time. He is also good in the air.
“He was in the middle of the season in Latvia and is in top shape, so we hope he can come in to contribute once. At the same time, we must remember that he is only 20 years old, so we must be patient.
Akinyemi has also expressed delight at linking up with the modest side.
“I’m very happy to come here. I look forward to getting started and hoping to score many goals for Start,” he told the club’s website.
The 20- year-old who will enjoy the privilege of playing along with childhood friend Afeez Aremu, has scored 13 goals in 17 matches for Ventspils this season.
Seven of those goals have come in the UEFA Europa League qualification games.
