Nigerian striker, Joseph Akpala, was on target for Oostende as they defeated Standard Liege 2-1 away from home.
Akpala scored in the 14th minute after Christian Bruels had put Liege in front in just three minutes. Knowledge Musona sealed the win for Oostende when he struck with 12 minutes remaining.
Champions of the Belgian league, Gent, were held to a 0-0 draw by Kortrijk with Moses Simon in action. And after an unproductive 69 minutes of play, Simon was replaced by Benito Raman.
Another Belgian league game involving Nigerian player saw Imoh Ezekiel come off the bench in the 90th minute for Ivan Obradovic and provide the assist that gave Anderlecht a 1-0 win against Lokeren. The game was his fourth of the season.
In the Bundesliga, Leon Balogun played for seven minutes as his team, Mainz, beat Borussia Monchenglabach 2-1. Balogun was introduced for Christian Clemens in the 83rd minute to earn his second appearance for Mainz.
Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong, was in action for Haugesund in their 4-2 home loss to Bodo/Glimt. It was Ekong’s fifth game of the season. His Nigerian team-mate, Sadeeq Yusuf, was replaced in the 38th minute for Simon Diedhiou. Meanwhile, Nigeria player, Dominic Chatto was on target for Bodo/Glimt.
In the Dutch Eredivisie, former junior international, Michael Olaitan, was on for 90 minutes as his team, Twente fell 2-1 away to PEC Zwolle.
Still in the Dutch league, Nigerian striker, Abiola Dauda, was on for Vitesse but couldn’t prevent them from losing 2-0 away to Feyenoord. Dauda was later replaced by Chelsea on-loan player, Dominic Solanke, with 10 minutes to go.
