Blackburn's Nigerian midfielder Hope Akpan has been charged by the Football Association for violent conduct in Tuesday's 2-1 Championship defeat at Sheffield Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The 25-year-old Akpan pushed referee Scott Duncan after he ruled out the player's late equaliser for handball, and the Super Eagles star was subsequently shown a straight red card by the official for misconduct.
Akpan has until 6pm next Monday to respond to the charges.
He faces a standard three-match ban for the red card which will see him miss Blackburn Rovers' FA Cup tie with Manchester United on Sunday.
The FA could also extend the ban based on the gravity of the offence.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
