Newly capped Super Eagles central midfielder Hope Akpan has hailed the massive role played by John Obi Mikel in his intregation to the team in Wednesday’s 3-1 African Cup of Nations Qualifying victory over Sudan.
The Reading star made a full match duration debut for the senior national side and praised the impact made by the former Flying Eagles midfielder.
He wrote on his official twitter handle @hopeakpan: “This guy (Mikel) made it easy for me. Learnt a lot in short space of time. True Professional.”
“Delighted is an understatement. I have realised a small dream today (Wednesday) making my debut for @NGSuperEagles.”
The 23-year-old received his first call-up to the Nigerian national team in October 2014.
