Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has completed his long awaited move to South African side, Chippa United, completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Chippa United have been tracking the goalkeeper following his superlative showing for the Super Eagles in a recent international friendly encounter against Bafana Bafana of South Africa.
Akpeyi was carried off the pitch in a manner similar to what Chelsea players did to Ivorien legend Didier Drogba during last season’s final home game, at the end of Sunday’s 5-0 home win against El-Kanemi, an indication that he has played his final game for the club this season.
Media Officer of the club, Moses Etu, revealed to completesportsnigeria.com that both clubs have reached a deal.
“We have reached agreement with Chippa United for the transfer of Daniel Akpeyi,” Etu divulged to completesportsnigeria.
“The player is in Abuja at the moment trying to get his visa to facilitate his move to South Africa.
“He got a wonderful sendoff from his colleagues at the end of our game against El-Kanemi on Sunday.
“We are really going to miss him, but we have a capable replacement in Okiemute Odah.
“We wish him all the best in South Africa and hope it will be a good experience for him.”
