Akpeyi Returns To Chippa United Action, Okwosa Voted Best Player Vs Chiefs

By Adeboye Amosu: Super Eagles goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi returned to action for his South Africa club Chippa United in their 1-0 win against Kaizer Chiefs on Wednesday, reports Completesportsnigeria. com.

Akpeyi sustained a neck injury in the club’s previous ABSA Premiership clash last week against Mamelodi Sundowns and was unable to complete the game after he was stretchered off in the 68th minute.

He was however cleared by the club doctors to resume training few days later.

The Chilli Boys won the fixture courtesy of a fifth minutes strike by Ntuthuko Mabaso and now have now moved to second position in the table.

Clean sheets or not, I don’t foresee him mounting the post for the Supper Eagle’s in Russia 2018… He is a disaster that must be avoided.
He is bless with the heights that should be required from a goalkeeper. However, his positioning in goal, control of his defense line, and composure in goal is relatively poor…
Just look at the he blunder he committed in our friendly match between Argentina that resulted to the first goal. That is not to be expected from a goalkeeper of his status, cos’ even the young goalkeeper’s playing backyard football will not handle the ball outside their 18 yard. Moreover, as a goalkeeper, common sense dictates that you arrange your defense wall to cover your far right, while you cover your left, with clear sight if the ball, yet he conceded the goal from the angle he was expected to be covering. Annoyingly, it was even a straight shoot from the Argentine striker, what a cheap goal.
Honestly, his substitute did credibly well. Perhaps, he should be tried in more grade-A friendly matches to prove himself, else we have no option than sticking to veteran Enyeama, which is our last option.!
