Akpeyi: Unity Will See Eagles Through

–Dropped goalkeeper preaches gospel of unity in Eagles

Goalkeeper Daniel Akpeyi has said the unity that existed in the Super Eagles camp before he left camp will see the team through at the World Cup in Brazil.

The Warri Wolves shot-stopper could not make Stephen Keshi’s Super Eagles final 23-man
squad list and insisted he has taken the coach’s decision in good faith.

“We were like one family when I was there, the players, coaches and other staff were together and I want to believe that with such unity, the team can do well at the World
Cup”, Akpeyi said.

“We’ve a lot of talents in the team, each player fights for his teammates and this is good
for us going into the World Cup.”

The former Heartland of Owerri goalkeeper who could not make the senior national team’s cut for the World Cup further stated he was not disappointed over his exclusion from the
team.

“Every one cannot go to the World Cup. Yes, it hurts, but that’s life, we cannot but support the team, I believe I’m still part of them and I will continue to pray for them to excel at the championship”, he added.
