Ex-international, Jonathan Akpoborie has told Copmplete Sports that the just concluded 2015 Super Six tournament would go a long way in helping both the Flying Eagles and U-23 Eagles as they prepare ahead of their international assignments.
While praising the effort of the football house in putting up a tournamnet like that, he says the one-week tournament was good enough to put the teams in the right form ahead of the new season.
“The tournament was a good one for the teams and it will help them keep fit. But however, more training tours can still be organized for the Flying Eagles and U-23 Eagles to help them have good outings when the tournaments begin”, says Akpoborie The Nigeria Flying Eagles are preparing for the 2015 AYC U-20 Championship billed for Senegal while the Dream Team 6 are preparing for the qualifiers of the All African Games.
“One particular thing that interests me most was the mobility of the U-20 boys in every game they played. The boys, no doubt gave a very good fight in every game and it clearly showed that they have matured and ready for the challenges ahead of them.”
“Seriously, I was impressed with the way and manner they distributed the ball from the defense to the attack, in fact,it was really eye catching. Candidly, I will say I am happy with what I have seen in the team.”
The 2015 AYC U-20 Championship, which is scheduled to hold between March 8 and 22, 2015 in Senegal, will be the 20th edition of the football tournament.
