Akwa United Coach Rues Draw Against Rangers

Akwa United technical adviser, Patrick Udoh has described as huge setback his side’s goalless draw against Enugu Rangers.

The Promise Keeper failed to achieve their touted reversal of the 0-3 thumping suffered in the hands of the Coal City side in the first fixture in Enugu as they were held to a barren draw in Sunday’s Glo Premier League match day 30 clash at the Uyo Township Stadium.

Udoh said his wards played badly to have chanced winning the encounter against a more resolute side like Enugu Rangers.

“We didn’t play well to chance a win in the encounter, the motivation and zeal to win the tussle weren’t there among the players.

“Actually Enugu Rangers are a good side, not push-over but the bottom line is that my players showed no hunger to win the game possibly because the motivation wasn’t there.

“However, I still thank God that we’re able to pick a point as it would have been disastrous if we had lost the whole three points.

“The draw is a huge setback for us as a win would have taken us to 46 points and further up the ladder.

“Well, nothing has really gone bad as we just need to raise our game and determination in the next matches, at

least, to earn some points on the road to cancel the ones we’ve lost to Rangers,” said Udoh to supersport.com.

The draw against Enugu Rangers slightly increases Akwa United total points to 44 from a possible 90 in the 30-week old Nigerian top flight.
