By Adeboye Amosu: Al Ahly director of football Sayed Abdel-Hafiz has denied rumours that the club’s Nigerian striker Junior Ajayi will be sold at the end of the season, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Ajayi has been a key member of the Al Ahly side since joining the eight-time African champions from Tunisian club CS Sfaxien in 2016.
The versatile forward has scored 16 goals in 44 appearances for the club since the switch.
There have however been reports that clubs in Turkey and France are looking to sign the Nigeria Rio 2016 Olympic Games squad member this summer with Al Ahly said to be interested in cashing in too.
The Red Devils have however stated that they are not keen on parting ways with one of their prized assets.
“Ajayi is one of the important players in our team and there is no plan to sell him at the end of the season,” Abdel-Hafiz told the club’s official website.
“We have not received any formal bids for him and we don’t have any reason to sell an important player like Ajayi who has distinguished himself since his arrival here.
“If we receive any offer for the player we will discuss it at the board level but for now there is no offer on the table for him.”
Ajayi who was on Friday named the best foreign player in the Egypt League is in Nigeria’s squad for this month’s friendly games against Poland and Serbia.Fastest Paying Betting Site in Nigeria: Grab your 140% First Time Deposit Bonus Now — www.Sportybet.Com Copyright © 2021 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
