Moeen Ali’s superb bowling display of 5-63 has allowed England back into the fourth Test against India as they trail by 21 runs. Having been dismissed for 246 in the first innings, with only Sam Curran achieving a half-century or higher, India looked primed to take advantage of a lax batting display at the Rose Bowl.
At first it seemed like India could stage a repeat of the third Test when they stormed to 142-2.
However, off-spinner Ali showed why he was recalled to the side for the Test as he battered his way through the Indian middle and lower batting order to take the score from 142-2 to 195-8.
The only saving grace for the tourists was the display from number three batsmen Cheteshwar Pujara, who scored a century and was unbeaten at the end of the Indian innings.
England’s Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings had enough time for four overs at the end of the day as they prepare to start day three at 6-0 in their second innings.Copyright © 2020 Completesports.com All rights reserved.
