Super Eagles defender Jamiu Alimi will not feature for Akwa United in the second half of this season’s Nigerian Professional Football League after Kano Pillars refused to release his clearance papers, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Alimi had agreed terms with the Promise Keepers a fortnight ago till the end the of the season. He will however return to Kano on Sunday after he was also offered a lucrative salary by the management of Pillars, it was gathered.
“Pillars refused to release my clearance papers to Akwa United which means I will return to Kano to play till the end of the season,” Alimi told Completesportsnigeria.com.
“It was beyond me and I’m eager to play. I have spoken to the new coach and as a professional I will give my best to the team when I return.
“The management of Akwa United were very lovely and I’m happy with their understanding.”
Alimi previously featured for Ukrainian side Tavryia, the defunct Sharks FC, Shooting Stars before joining Kano Pillars two seasons ago.
