Essex have confirmed veteran all-rounder Ashar Zaidi will leave when his contract expires at the end of the season. The 37-year-old linked up with Essex in January 2016 from Sussex and he was key in helping them to win the Division Two title in 2016.
Zaidi also played a part in their Division One title triumph in 2017 but he will be remembered for his exploits in limited-overs cricket.
Head coach Anthony McGrath told the club’s official website: “Ashar has been an important part of the squad during his time with us with both bat and ball, especially in white-ball cricket.
“His ability to strike the ball long and hard was always special to watch and excited the crowd at Chelmsford on a number of occasions.”
Academy graduate all-rounder Callum Taylor has also been released by Essex after failing to force his way into first-team contention.
