–Ex- National team goalie charges Keshi’s men to go for victory
Erstwhile Super Eagles goalkeeper, Alloy Agu believes it is important the team win it’s opening game against Iran on Monday to stand any chance of progressing beyond the group
stage at the on going 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
With tough fixtures against Bosnia Herzegovina and Argentina still to come, Agu opined a
win against the Asian representatives will help boost Nigeria chances of reaching the last
sixteen.
‘’It’s crucial the Super Eagles beat Iran to put themselves in a good position to scale through the first round hurdle in Brazil.
‘’In a big tournament like the World Cup, winning your first game gives so much confidence and helps boost morale ahead of the task at hand.
‘’On paper, the Iran fixture looks like the easiest fixture for us, but I want the players to approach the game with all seriousness as if it is a final.
‘’We have not won a game in our last two appearances in the competition and it is important we put an end to that,’’he declared.
Nigeria will face Iran tomorrow at the Arena da Baixada,Curitiba, with subsequent games against Bosnia Herzegovina and Argentina to follow.
